Faith Formation

Mission Statement

We the Faith Formation staff are committed to assist parents in the faith formation of their children and youth by providing resources and support. We do this by offerring the opportunity for religious instruction, worship, prayer, and service. Faith Formation is a lifelong process that includes everyone.

Goals of Faith Formation

  • To support parents in their role as primary educators of their children.
  • To teach Jesus Christ, our Savior and Model of Christian Life.
  • To develope a strong sense of belonging to the parish family, as evidenced by participation in weekend Mass and other parish celebrations.
  • To prepare families for their children's first reception of the Sacrements of Reconcilliation and Eucharist, thereby fostering moments of adult faith development.
  • To work with youth in preparing spiritually and doctrinally for the Sacrament of Confirmation while developing a habit of service to others and commitment to worship and community.

Faith Formation meets Sunday's starting at 9:30 and ends at 10:30 AM, with the exception of the Confirmation Class which dismisses at 10:45 AM.

Please contact the parish office at (828) 456-6707.

While the primary purpose of RCIA is to bring converts into the Catholic Church, it is also an excellent way to deepen your knowledge about your faith and the beliefs of the Catholic Church. RCIA meets weekly - for details see the Parish Calendar.

"Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Proverbs 22:6

We can't have full knowledge all at once. We must start by believing; then afterwords we may be led on to master the evidence for ourselves."
